Bring All of Your Important Documents With You

You are probably asking yourself: should I send all of these vital documents with our household goods, or should I keep them with me and risk losing them in transit?  There is a difinitive answer to this question.  BRING THEM WITH YOU!

When you arrive in Italy, one of the first things you will need to do is get ID cards.  You cannot do ANYTHING without an ID card.  You cannot get an ID card without all of your original vital documents, including:
  • Drivers Licenses
  • Birth Certificates
  • Marriage License
  • Passports
  • Orders
ID cards are issued to everyone in your family age 10 and over.  But you will need documents for the younger children during the process of getting your ID, so bring those docs!

If you have children, you cannot put them into school or childcare without SHOT RECORDS.  Bring them on your person!

I reccommend that you scan and store copies of everything in a cloud drive or email the documents to yourself, so that you have a back-up.  Because things happen.  But you need to have the originals on your person.  Don't risk losing them in checked luggage.  Keep those docs close and safe.  If you don't, you are in for a really tough time.
